Bristol Beacon to celebrate refurbished space with free house party

Bristol Beacon will reopen on November 30 following a multi-million pound renovation since its closure in 2018.

Trip The Light Fantastic will kick things off on opening night before a free, venue takeover on December 2.

Taking place from 11am to 2am, the newly refurbished venue taken over by local communities and artists including Lady Nade, Ishmael Ensemble and Elles Bailey.

The all-Bristol line-up also includes a huge selection who answered a public call-out to take part.

Other artists announced so far include Bristol Reggae Orchestra and Windrush Choir, Up Bustle & Out, Vilk Collective and more during the day.

Taking event through the night will see the likes of B3nji, BUFFEE, John Stapelton, Kray-Z-Legz, Melissa Fear, RSVP Bhangra and more, with the full line up still to be announced.

Artist and gig-goer Big Jeff Johns, family inclusion worker and doula Natalie Thomas-Gayle, Bristol Older People Forum’s Ian Quaife, artist manager Hannah Beasley-Garrigan and poet and artist, Olamiposi Ayorinde worked with Bristol Beacon’s programming team to bring a range of artists to the event.

Todd Wills, Artistic Director at Bristol Beacon, said: “With the reopening of Bristol Beacon getting ever closer, we can’t wait to showcase the amazing talents we have right here on our doorstep at The Housewarming.

“This event will also be the first time the public will be able to explore all of our incredible new performance spaces.

“From the initial call out for artists and the selection by ourselves and our advisory board, we’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that every corner of Bristol’s brilliant creative scene will be celebrated.”

The Housewarming is free to attend and no ticket is required.
