Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool
True-life odd couple romance centred on Oscar winner Gloria Grahame's twilight years
If you’ve been concerned that there simply aren’t enough superhero movies showing in cinemas these days, you’re in luck: there’s a plethora of costumed avengers in this week’s big release, Justice League, which is assaulting eyeballs in both 2D and 3D. Should that not appeal, other major releases include Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool, Ingrid Goes West and an extended run of Félicité, which was previewed at last weekend’s Afrika Eye film festival. The Watershed’s More Than Miyazaki weekend boasts an eclectic mix of Japanese anime flicks, from family-friendly tales to very adult stuff indeed, none of which was the product of world-conquering Studio Ghibli. You can also catch Bristol’s most famous son, Cary Grant, on screen at the Cathedral in The Bishop’s Wife. And if you’re genuinely aching to see a sequel to Daddy’s Home, the imaginatively titled Daddy’s Home 2 is previewed in multiplexes on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. Scroll down for much more filmy goodness, and follow the links for cinemas and screening times. Go here for our fully comprehensive film listings.
