Good news if you’re suffering from superhero withdrawal syndrome: there are saturation screenings of Captain Marvel just about everywhere this week, in both 3D and bog-standard 2D.
Bad news if you’d rather gnaw off your own foot than endure yet another bloody superhero flick. But there are plenty of tasty alternatives if you’re prepared to seek them out. Border and The Kindergraten Teacher are this week’s arthouse must-sees. There are also Q&As with Ralph Fiennes (by satellite for The White Crow) and Simon Amstell (in person for Benjamin), plus an exclusive opportunity to see footage from the upcoming local documentary I Am Judah.
On the film festival front, Bristol Film Festival’s spring programme continues apace, though be warned that some of these screenings are already sold out. Queer cinema connoisseurs should flock to the Cube for this year’s Palace International Film Festival. Most of this takes place next weekend, but there are a couple of screenings on Thursday.
