This mediaeval epic from 1967 has often been cited as the greatest Czech film ever made. It’s based on a 13th century legend and adopts an entirely unromantic approach to knighthood as two barbaric rival clans set about raping and beheading, driven by superstition and primitive mysticsm.
The rare screening is courtesy of the Hellfire Video Club, taking a break from their usual obsession with glorious crud.
