Sicario 2: Soldado
Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro return for a sequel to the Oscar-nominated crime thriller
We’re in a slight blockbuster lull until Skyscraper turns up on July 12, so there are plenty of new releases this week that might otherwise have been bumped to the margins. Mind you, given the weather forecast the distributors are probably wondering why they bothered. Take your pick from shipwreck drama Adrift, men-behaving-badly comedy Tag and crime drama sequel Sicario 2: Soldado. Your big arthouse choice is Leave No Trace; there’s another kid-friendly, mutt-centred comedy in the form of Patrick; and the mature audience has an opportunity to doze gently through The Bookshop.
Previews this week are of prequel The First Purge (Wed & Thur) and Kevin Macdonald’s Whitney documentary (Thur)
The bulk of the Doc’n Roll film festival takes place this weekend, and there’s even a bit of overlap with Queer Vision, Bristol Pride’s own film festival, which begins with a week-long run of Freak Show.
As usual, follow the links below for venues, screening times and trailers and go here for our comprehensive film listings.
