Avengers: Infinity War

Director
Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
Certificate
12A
Running Time
149 mins

The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises collide in this 19th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is presumably intended to revive both series after less-than-ecstatically-received sequels (that’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Avengers: Age of Ultron – do try to keep up). Mind you, anything carrying the Marvel label seems guaranteed to reap shitloads of nerd loot, regardless of quality.

Story? Well, it seems that naughty old intergalactic galactic bad guy Thanos (Josh Brolin) has pitched up on Earth to snaffle the Infinity Stones that’ll confer reality-bending omnipotence on him. The Avengers, who are still bickering after the events of Captain America: Civil War, must now team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to thwart him by means of combined superhero whupass. Expect T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and his Wakandan chums to feature prominently – in the advertising if not necessarily in the movie, which wrapped last July – given the phenomenal unexpected success of the Black Panther flick.
