National Theatre Encore: The Tragedy of King Richard the Second
Simon Russell Beale stars as the Bard's weak and vain monarch
You can tell it’s awards season, can’t you? Three big hitters show up this week: Stan & Ollie (go here for our review), Colette (go here for our review) and The Front Runner (go here for our review).
If Stan & Ollie whets your appetite for the duo’s slapstick comedy genius, serendipity brings us Bristol’s very own Slapstick festival this week too. Opening on Wednesday, this mammoth feast of silent and physical comedy blends classics by L&H, Keaton and Chaplin with plenty of lesser-known stars of the era.
This week, you can also sing along with surprise Golden Globe winner Bohemian Rhapsody, enjoy a live broadcast of the National Theatre’s production of The Tragedy of King Richard the Second and revisit a host of classics on the big screen, from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty to This Is Spinal Tap and Pan’s Labyrinth.
