New cinema confirms opening date
A new cinema coming to Bristol has confirmed that it will be opening its doors in February.
The new Odeon Luxe, which is opening in the former Showcase Cinema De Lux site in Cabot Circus, will screen its first films on February 12.
The site will host eight screens, including an IMAX experience which Bristol has not had since 2007.

The eight-screen cinema will replace the former Showcase Cinema De Lux
The cinema revival is scheduled just one day after the Odeon on Union Street, which has been running for 88 years, is set to close its doors for good.
To celebrate the new cinema’s opening, the Odeon group is offering tickets to all films, screens and formats for £4 until February 22.
After that, tickets will start from £7.95 at the cinema which promises “the ultimate in cinematic luxury” with some screens even having beds for cinemagoers.
Suzie Welch, the managing director of Odeon UK and Ireland, said: “We’re so excited to be opening our doors and welcoming our first guests in to experience everything Odeon has to offer at our new Bristol home in Cabot Circus.
“The team has done an amazing job to get the cinema ready and I would like to say a huge thanks as they put the final preparations in place.
“We are so proud to be part of the local Bristol community, as we have been for 90 years now and counting, showing films in the way they were intended to be seen – on the big screen!”
