Bristol’s week in film: August 20-26 2021

TV spin-off People Just Do Nothing: Big in Japan leads a mixed bag of new releases this week. If the pirate radio mockumentary antics don’t appeal, there’s always arthouse crossover horror Censor, science fiction thriller Reminiscence, a documentary about M.C. Escher and the story of one man (Nicolas Cage) and his pig.

The Everyman’s annual Music Film Festival kicks off this week with the return of Edgar Wright’s hugely enjoyable Sparks Brothers documentary and the recent authorised Tina Turner doc. Check the Now Booking section at the end for future screenings, which include The Beatles and India, Mick Fleetwood and Friends Celebrate the Music of Peter Green and the director’s cut of Rush’s Cinema Strangiato.
