The potentially bad news is that this documentary about the life and music of Tina Turner is authorised by its subject. The good news is that it doesn’t allow the harrowing, oft-told account of her abuse at the hands of Ike to overwhelm and define her story.

It also means there’s plenty of great footage of Turner onstage, including her spectacular 80s comeback. As The Guardian remarked: “…there is still a grittier story waiting to be told. Until then, just watch the concert footage. She is simply the best.”
