There was little change this week, with The Lego Batman Movie enjoying its third and final week at the top, keeping the spankers of Fifty Shades Darker at bay until Logan comes along to blow them both away next week. Patriots Day proved to be the most popular of the new releases, but could only secure seventh place with its mediocre £850,000 haul. Gore Verbinski, meanwhile, scored his lowest UK opening weekend since The Weather Man with his poorly received supernatural epic, A Cure for Wellness. Despite missing out at the Oscars, Lion continued its excellent run at the UK box office and now ranks as the third most commercially successful Best Picture nominee. Big winner Moonlight actually tumbled out of the chart over the weekend, but is certain to make a reappearance next week – not least because of all the publicity surrounding the bizarre circumstances in which it saw off that song’n’dance challenge from La La Land.
