‘Bonnets at the ready!’ Rosalie Minnitt tours her Bridgerton-inspired character comedy show
Making her Edinburgh Fringe debut in 2023 with character comedy hour Clementine, Rosalie Minnitt is an award-winning writer and comedy performer who has hit the ground running ever since.
An alumnus of Soho Theatre Labs and The Free Association, she is a regular on the London comedy circuit, and has written for the BBC, The Guardian and The Times as well as filming for her first TV acting role.
Clementine received rave reviews, selling out its Fringe run for two consecutive years, before transferring to London for – at the last count – three Soho Theatre residencies.

Inspired by costume dramas from Jane Austen to Bridgerton, and seen through an extremely contemporary lens, the hour-long show follows 26-year-old Clementine, on a desperate hunt for ‘The One’ before the ceaseless march of time threatens her obsolescence (for surely, women past 27 will never find a husband).
It’s an irreverent parody that manages to be “set roughly in the past” while also taking in contemporary girlhood, Sylvanian Families, self-love and ketamine.

Minnitt describes Clementine as “a kaleidoscopic concoction of historical anachronisms, TikTok sounds and misplaced pop-culture references”.
And as to who she had in mind when writing the show? “It‘s unapologetically for the chronically online girlies,” she says.

“Clementine is a comedy character I created when I was lost and heartbroken. I made the show that I needed when I was 24 and suddenly couldn’t get out of bed in the morning.
“I realised that the insatiable diet of Disney-Happily-Ever-Afters and bleached blonde Noughties heartthrobs that I had been bingeing on since I could walk left me hungry and angry.

“After I debuted last year, I got hundreds of DMs, messages and emails telling me about how Clementine made them feel. Women saw this show multiple times. Then they brought their friends and sisters and mums and aunts.
“One girl came four times and she wrote to me: ‘if someone asked me why I love women and love being a woman, I’d show them this show’.”
