How does Femmes on Decks embody its mission?
“Our mission is to build a supportive network and provide a platform that amplifies visibility and empowers femmes of all ages to take to the decks and celebrate sisterhood through music.
“We’re proudly intergenerational and intersectional. We are a community first and a promoter second.
“We collaborate to create opportunities, providing our artists with meaningful engagement and visibility through artist spotlights and shows.

“We’re always open to discovering new talent and welcoming guest DJs into our community. We foster a safe, supportive space to share experiences, offer guidance, and raise concerns.
“We actively challenge and avoid clique culture, focusing on the music and bringing vibrant good times that champion and celebrate women of all ages and backgrounds.”
How do you sum up the Femmes on Decks sound?
“Eclectic, soulful and groovy. We play a spectrum of electronica, both on vinyl and digital. Deep house, techno, garage, bruk, funk, soul, disco, anything goes as long and it feels good.
“We start with rare funk, boogie and disco, followed by deep soulful house and maybe some Detroit techno. Plus a few cosmic curveballs along the way.
“The Femmes have deep-rooted and expansive knowledge of music, and although we all have our own unique sound we’re intuitive and flow authentically and naturally when playing together.”
How have you been building the project this year?
“We put a lot of energy into building connections and securing gigs and residencies across the city and beyond, creating opportunities for our DJ community to perform and grow.

“It’s been a busy start to the year, with a regular takeover at the Wiper & True taproom Spring Series, the Star and Garter as well as playing alongside DJ Fat Tony for Back 2 Mine at Bambalan.
“A standout moment so far has to be opening the mainstage at Love Saves the Day which was an unforgettable milestone for us.”
Any fun summer shows on the horizon?
“We’ll be joining forces with Beautiful People at the Jam Jar on June 19 for a vocal house night and a couple of us will be playing on the poolside of the Lido in Clifton for their Summer Session on June 28. We have a Saturday night residency at the Gallimaufry throughout September which will be really fun.
“And of course we have the Bristol24/7 EatDrink party in July which we are super excited about.

“Also, Pammy is at Shambala, Angel Mel is at We Out Here and Eyesa is playing Westival in Pembrokeshire. Many of us play independently, and you’ll almost always find at least one of us behind the decks somewhere each weekend.
“We make a real effort to show up for each other’s gigs, bringing energy to the dancefloor and supporting one another. Find our most up to date listings on Instagram.”
What can EatDrink24/7 attendees expect from your show?
“Soulful summer time vibes from me, Fly Fox, and Whitts (who you may have seen at the Christmas Steps as part of Paradisco‘s takeover)!
“We’ll be keeping it on point, as always: Latin sounds, afro beats, rare groove and funk, house, hip hop, disco for the day-into-evening vibe.”
What’s next for the Femmes?

“If you love dance music and clubbing, buy a ticket to see DJs that are underrepresented in mainstream dance music culture: this support goes further than you think. Venues and grassroots groups like ours need your support more than ever.
“For the rest of the year our dedication will continue to cultivate connection, positive energy and good times.
“If what we’re building resonates with you, or you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you – especially women, non-binary, and trans people who love to DJ or promote nights. Contact us @femmesondecks_uk”
