Closed Feeder Road warehouse venue to reopen under new management

By Miles Arnold  Wednesday Jun 5, 2024

Bristol’s largest outdoor warehouse venue has lain dormant for the past six months but will soon be reopening under new owners and a new name.

Propyard on Feeder Road is becoming Prospect, with plans to reopen the 2,500-capacity space with quite the facelift.

It comes after Propyard closed for good following allegations the owner was not paying staff, suppliers and artists.

The former torpedo testing site has been left to its own devices since then, with rumours and questions circling regarding the future of a space with such massive potential. As the dust settles, however, all might not be lost.

Fans of pretty much any kind of dance music will have experienced, or at least heard of, some of the endeavours of A Man About a Dog (AMAAD).

The brains behind London’s underground techno festival Junction 2, and the London leg of the larger than life, almost psychedelic European touring Elrow Town festival, they’re known for creating big parties of all stripes, and, most importantly, filling them up with happy customers.

Their latest project is Prospect in St Philip’s Marsh, where punters can expect improved cloakroom and toilet facilities – the likes of which were points of complaint for many visitors in the space’s previous life.

This will be paired with a specially developed state of the art sound system from L-Acoustics, to match Prospect’s unique industrial acoustics, while attempting to ensure minimal impact on the communities living around the venue.

The first 12 months at Prospect will, of course, be the proving grounds.

AMAAD do admittedly have a history of working with Bristol based promoters, from Team Love to Dance Corp and more, and AMAAD’s founders say they are hoping “to create a venue that will serve Bristol’s cultural community, and become a hub of culture within the wider development of Temple Quarter and St Philip’s Marsh”.

Events in the calendar so far include England’s matches at Euro 2024 on the big screen, Honey Dijon on July 19 and Second Life Markets on October 13.
