Art / open call
‘What brings me joy?’ – Glenside Hospital Museum issues open call for artists
Glenside Hospital Museum has issued an open call for artists, ahead of an exhibition which will open on September 11.
The former Victorian asylum now houses a historical ‘mental health care collection’, while visitors will also be introduced to a typical day spent within that environment.
Artists responding to the call are invited to explore the question: ‘What brings me joy?’
is needed now More than ever
They are welcome to use the museum collection as a jumping off point for developing work, although this is by no means essential.
“One aspect of maintaining mental fitness is to participate in activities that bring joy”, organisers say.
“With this exhibition we would like to celebrate creativity as well as entertain our visitors. We are seeking to deliver a stimulating and inspiring exhibition for our visitors and to lift their spirits through your work.”
