RWA calls for artist submissions to the 172 Open exhibition
The RWA is running a call for submissions to its prestigious Annual Open Exhibition, now in its 172nd year.
The event is open to artists (aged 18+) from any location and at any stage of their career.
As a result, the final exhibition will platform established names alongside emerging and new talent – all of whom will be afforded the opportunity to introduce their work to a wider audience.
The list of venerated artists to have exhibited in previous years includes Sir Frank Bowling, Peter Blake, Vanessa Bell and David Hockney.

Artists are invited to submit up to three works in a range of accepted media – from painting and drawing to architecture, sculpture, printmaking, photography and textiles.
For this year’s Annual Open, external selectors David Trigg and Professor Anita Taylor will join five judges from the RWA – Anna Gillespie, Hamish Young, Jemma Gunning, Fiona Robinson and Ros Cuthbert – in deciding upon the works to make it through to the gallery stage.

Artists are welcome to submit work in a wide variety of disciplines
All artworks are judged blind, ensuring selection is done based solely on artistic merit.
The successful entries will be announced on July 21, and the final exhibition is set to run for four months, opening on September 6.
