Launching over the weekend of October 19-20 2019, BOP Bristol 19 is a brand new photobook festival hosted by Martin Parr Foundation and The Royal Photographic Society, and housed at Paintworks, Bristol where both organisations are based. It brings together a diverse range of photobook publishers from the UK and Europe and is supported by a programme of talks over the two days.
BOP Bristol 19 will provide an opportunity for photographers and collectors to seek out new books directly from publishers and artists, secure recently published and established titles, as well as meet many of the photographers behind the books. BOP Bristol 19 includes many of the key publishers in the photobook industry, including Hoxton Mini Press, MACK and Loose Joints.
Book signings will take place throughout the festival: the full lineup of signings can be found here.
The weekend also includes an extensive programme of talks from photographers including Stephen Gill, Mark Power, Jack Latham (whose exhibition Sugar Paper Theories is currently at the RPS headquarters in Bristol – read our conversation with Jack here), Poulomi Basu, and Liz Hingley. They will discuss their work with a particular focus on recent projects.
Entry to the book fair is free: artist talks are ticketed. Bristol brewery Lost and Grounded will have a pop up bar at the festival and food stalls will be on site.
