Bristol artist honoured by animal charity
Bristol artist Kate Guscott, who is best known for her pet portraits, will become an ambassador of WECare Worldwide, and will see see one of her custom portraits won as a raffle prize at an upcoming event.
The charity provides free veterinary care for over three million sick, injured and abused street dogs in Sri Lanka, and are seeking to eradicate rabies in the country.
On hearing the news, Kate said: “I feel so honoured to have the chance to support this incredible organisation. I can distinctly remember feeling powerless and guilty about the suffering I saw among the street dogs in Sri Lanka.
“It’s a relief to know that someone is out there, reducing the high levels of suffering among these incredible animals – that here in England we treat like family.”
Yasmin Davoodi of WECare, said: “We chose Kate and her work because she’s an animal lover at heart. She genuinely cares about animals and about making a difference in the world, for the better. We’re all honored to have her as an ambassador.”
