The untapped talent pool: Addressing gender bias in the workplace

By Ellie Pipe  Tuesday Oct 4, 2022

A free event will focus on how companies can create truly gender equal workplaces.

Hosted by the team behind Bristol’s Women in Business Charter, the session taking place at One Glass Wharf on Tuesday, October 18 will feature data scientist Jaya Chakrabarti as a guest speaker giving her expertise on the untapped talent pool.

The founder of TISCreport will speak about women who are unable to fulfil their potential due to family or caring responsibilities and as a result of the menopause, which can inhibit and contribute to a lack of confidence to progress in the workplace.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Chakrabarti will share ideas on what employers can do to ensure they are not missing out on recruiting and retaining this talent pool, especially at a time when many businesses are facing skills shortages.

Sue Cohen and Diane Bunyan of Bristol Women’s Commission economy task group will also talk about the economic impact of not supporting the untapped talent of women during their working circle, with a focus on caring responsibilities and the current economic crisis.

Representatives from Burges Salmon will be sharing what they have been doing as a business to support women to be able to fulfil their potential and how being a charter signatory is contributing towards this goal.

The event will include an interactive Q&A session with speakers and signatories of the Women in Business Charter.
