Tech firm opening Bristol office with mission to ‘revolutionise’ data processing

By Milan Perera  Tuesday Nov 21, 2023

Leeds-based tech firm Optalysys is to open a new office in Bristol creating up to 30 new roles over the next 12 months across both cities.

The optical computing specialist is developing hardware designed to accelerate computing processes on encrypted and secure data.

Founded in 2013, the company is preparing to launch its first cloud-based platform and has recently closed a £21m funding round to drive growth.

Optalysys is currently developing new hardware that is expected to accelerate computing processes on encrypted information, allowing data to remain completely secure at all times.

This acceleration is in part delivered by their unique next-generation optical processing technology.

The tech firm’s Bristol office will be headed up by Gajinder Panesar, chief architect, and will be focused on the design of the electronic stages of its new processing chip and the embedded software, both fundamental aspects of bringing this ground-breaking technology into the mainstream.

Speaking about the tech firm’s new chapter in Bristol, Panesar said: “This is an exciting time for us.

“Having secured investor support, we’re growing at pace and see huge potential in what our technology has to offer.

“Bristol and the wider region has an array of talent and resources, including renowned research institutions and a supportive community for entrepreneurial businesses – it will be a great home for us as a future-thinking city.”
