By bella silvester, Monday Jul 1, 2019

Bristol Technology Festival is a new event in November for the Bristol and Bath tech sector.

The eight-day long festival will take place from November 2-10 2019, incorporating established events including Bristol Technology Showcase, Technotopia and Bristech under a single umbrella festival.

Bristol Technology Festival will be an inclusive event, running and promoting technology events to raise the profile of the city’s tech sector locally, nationally and internationally. The festival has eight founding companies: Engine Shed, Hargreaves Lansdown, TechSPARK, Bristech, Bristol Technology Showcase, Silicon Gorge, SouthWest Founders and SETsquared Bristol.

The local events have combined to make technology, technology jobs and technology entrepreneurship more accessible to more citizens of Bristol, with all events taking place under one name. The recent launch also sees a call out from the founding partners for new organisations to participate in the festival.

The festival is also working in collaboration with Bath Digital Festival to link with the regions flourishing digital sector with joint aims of encouraging young people to get involved and interested in improvements in technology.

“Bristol is a hub for some of the most exciting tech businesses and projects currently happening in Europe. The diversity and scope of activity happening here sets it apart from other places in the UK,” says Nick Sturge, director of the Engine Shed. “Tech is an industry that is open to anybody and we want to attract people from across the city regardless of their backgrounds and open up a world of opportunities and careers.

“We want to share these opportunities and create sustainable economic growth for all.”
