New event for education and business leaders navigating complexity
A leadership event aimed at helping education and business leaders navigate an increasingly complex landscape is set to take place in late April.
The Room – Leading Through Change will be held at Origin Workspace on April 28, bringing together leaders for a focused two-hour session on some of the most pressing challenges facing organisations today, including artificial intelligence, staff retention, SEND provision and workplace culture.
The leadership in 2026 requires balancing multiple demands at once from responding to rapid developments in AI to supporting exhausted staff, improving retention and strengthening provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, all while maintaining clear direction and accountability.
The event has been designed to offer a different kind of leadership conversation.

Rather than relying on generic frameworks or lengthy seminars, the session will focus on honest discussion, practical insight and peer learning, giving attendees space to step back and reflect on what matters most.
Across the session, speakers will explore what AI means in practice for schools, why staff are leaving the profession and what can be done to improve retention, as well as how to create environments where pupils with SEND can thrive.
The discussion will also look at how leaders can manage change without losing clarity, purpose or their people.

Contributors include Matt Stone, an AI strategy expert and former vice president at GoCompare; Mike Leaman, a former teacher and founder of Classroom Exit Coach; and Stephanie Wheen, founder of the SEND charity Gympanzees.
Each speaker brings experience from across education, technology and specialist inclusion.
The morning will run from 9.30am to 11.30am, with a mix of short sessions, open discussion and opportunities for networking.
The format has been deliberately kept concise and conversational, recognising the time pressures faced by senior leaders.
The event is aimed at headteachers, senior leadership teams, school business managers, MAT leaders, SENDCOs and business leaders responsible for strategy, staffing and organisational culture.
