Kate’s Kitchen takes next step on sustainability journey

By Bristol24/7  Monday Apr 20, 2026

The acclaimed Bristol-based catering firm Kate’s Kitchen has completed a ten-week Sustainability in Business Skills Bootcamp delivered by Future Leap and funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.

The course is aimed at professionals across all departments, from HR to operations, equipping them with the tools and confidence to embed environmental and social responsibility into everyday business practices.

It comes at a time when many organisations are under increasing pressure to meet sustainability goals, but often lack the practical know-how to implement change.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Participants explore a wide range of topics, from the history of climate change to the social dimensions of sustainability, alongside hands-on strategies that can be applied directly within their organisations.

For Kate’s Kitchen, the experience marks a huge leap towards embedding more sustainable practices across its catering operations.

Kate Ploughman, founder of Kate’ Kitchen, said the course had provided both knowledge and practical direction, adding that the business is now looking to apply what it has learned.

“I’ve learned so much – from the history of climate change to the social side of sustainability, as well as practical strategies businesses can implement. I’m really looking forward to applying this at Kate’s Kitchen Catering Ltd.

“A big thank you to Laura Millar and Lauren Gillis for their incredible knowledge and for running such a well-organised and engaging course.”

The programme, backed by regional funding, is designed to make sustainability training more accessible, enabling businesses to upskill staff and integrate responsible practices without significant financial barriers.

Since its founding in 2007 by Kate ‘s Kitchen has earned a loyal following for its thoughtful, seasonal menus – each one a reflection of its close ties to the land and the local producers who help shape it.
