Grundon celebrates national safety and innovation awards
Waste management firm Grundon has picked up a string of national awards recognising its commitment to vehicle safety and innovation.
The company, which operates across South West from bases in St Philip’s and Bishop’s Cleeve, won the Safe Vehicles Award at this year’s UK Fleet Champions Awards, organised by road safety charity Brake.
Grundon’s risk and sustainability director, Toni Robinson, was also highly commended in the road risk manager of the year category for her role in strengthening the company’s road risk management systems.
Earlier in the month, the firm was also named winner of the Thames Valley 250 Innovation Award, recognising its drive to improve environmental performance and operational efficiency across its fleet of more than 575 vehicles.

The UK Fleet Champions Awards, held at New Dock Hall in Leeds, brought together more than 270 representatives from across the transport and logistics industry. The winners were chosen by an independent judging panel.
John Stephens, general manager for logistics at Grundon, said: “We take investment in our vehicles and driver safety very seriously, and we are proud and honoured to have won this prestigious award.
“We thank the judging panel for recognising the efforts we’ve made, and the whole team looks forward to continuing that progress.”

Brake’s chief executive, Ross Moorlock, said the awards play an important role in promoting safety across the sector.
He said: “These awards matter not only because they celebrate success, but because they set standards. This year’s judging process was more rigorous than ever, and we’re delighted to recognise those leading the way.”
Attendees at the Leeds event also raised more than £3,000 for Brake’s work supporting road victims and campaigning for safer roads.
