City of Bristol College commended as region’s top performing college

City of Bristol College has been named the top-performing further education provider in the region for the second consecutive year, according to the Government’s latest National Achievement Rate Tables.

The college improved its overall achievement rate by 1.2 per cent points, placing it 3.2 points above the national average and within the top 25 per cent of colleges nationally, while retaining its leading position in the West of England Combined Authority area.

Strong results were recorded across all provision areas, with 16 to 18 performance improving year-on-year and adult provision standing out at 4.5 percentage points above the national average.

GCSE English and maths results also exceeded national benchmarks, alongside particularly strong outcomes in subjects including construction, business, health and retail.

Several subject areas delivered particularly strong results. Construction programmes built on last year’s gains with a further rise, now sitting 6 per cent points above the national average.

Business and administration courses remain the best in the region, achieving more than 10 points above national benchmarks.

Health, public services and care programmes are over 3 per cent points above average, while education and training exceeds national levels by more than 5 points.

Preparation for life and work programmes are 4 points above benchmarks, and retail and commercial enterprise courses are nearly 2 points above the national average, also ranking as the best in the region.
