Body found in Bristol city centre doorway

A man’s body was found in the doorway of a vacant Bristol city centre shop premises on Thursday morning.

The area around the former Optical Express in Merchant Street was cordoned off while police and paramedics attended the scene.

A police spokesman confirmed officers were called to reports of a man’s body found in the doorway at about 10.15am.

He said the death is being treated as unexplained.
