Holly Mcvae’s Yorkshire upbringing is something of a red herring as her voice sounds uncannily like a kindred spirit to Lana Del Rey. Be prepared to be drawn in by her timeless, haunting and tremulous vocals that radiate amongst a stark and darkly hued atmosphere. Influences of Johnny Cash, Gillian Welch and Leonard Cohen can be sensed in Holly’s music, but this precocious artist has certainly carved a sound all of her own. Her bewitching lyrics are perfectly offset with the mystical twang of a lonesome guitar.
