This year’s Halloween Brit comedy-horror is clearly intended to evoke the spectre of Shaun of the Dead, not least because it’s the first film from Nick Frost and Simon Pegg‘s production company, Stolen Picture, and sees the duo joining forces on screen once again.
It’s set at the ominously named, elite Slaughterhouse boarding school in the English countryside, where Pegg is a teacher and Michael Sheen is the headmaster. When a fracking operation overseen by Frost in the adjacent woodland opens up an enormous sinkhole, ravenous beasts are unleashed. The director and co-writer is Crispian Mills (y’know – the bloke from Kula Shaker), who previously directed Pegg in the feeble flop A Fantastic Fear of Everything.
