Dan Gilroy‘s first film as writer/director since the brilliant Nightcrawler is a legal drama starring Denzel Washington as the eponymous inner-city lawyer and former ’60s radical, who endeavours to keep the civil rights struggle alive, along with his period ‘fro, in a small two-man firm.
When his partner succumbs to a heart attack, the firm is forced to shut down. But Roman is swiftly snapped up by slick corporate attorney George Pierce (Colin Farrell), who recognises that beneath the shabby exterior there lurks a razor-sharp legal mind. Naturally, our hero is conflicted, but will he sell out his ideals?
