Famously wooden Roger Moore takes over from Sean Connery, Q is temporarily pensioned off (fans demanded his return for the next one), and Yaphet Kotto becomes the first black Bond baddie. Otherwise it’s business as usual for the suave superspy, with Jane Seymour on babe duty as an unlikely Tarot-reading voodoo queen. Over-excited seventies audiences reportedly gasped with delight at the novelty of Bond’s coffee-making machine. Best theme song of the entire series, mind. It was also the first Bond song to be nominated for an Oscar.
It’s back on screen in tribute to the late Roger Moore as part of the ‘shed’s December Screen Homage Sunday brunch season honouring cinema greats who carked it this year.
