Education partners to conclude partnership
City of Bristol College and Hartcliffe and Withywood Ventures (HWV) have announced the conclusion of their partnership.
The subcontracting agreement will conclude in July 2026.
In a joint statement, both organisations said the decision “reflects the evolving strategic priorities of both organisations,” while reaffirming their shared commitment to supporting local communities and delivering “high-quality, inclusive education”.
Over the course of their partnership, the two institutions have worked closely to provide education and training that has “positively impacted students and the wider community”.

HWV, an independent community organisation in south Bristol, said the transition will enable it to be “creative and responsive to the needs of the community” while continuing to collaborate with the college and other partners.
HWV operates The Gatehouse Centre in Hartcliffe, a hub for learning, advice and community services.
The statement added that “The Gatehouse remains an anchor institution in the local community, continuing to provide access to learning, skills development and a trusted place for community support.”
While the City of Bristol College stated that it “remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the diverse communities and students across Bristol, the South West and beyond,” with a focus on maintaining “the highest standard of education that is inclusive and accessible to everyone”.

The Gatehouse Centre is now a micro-campus of the University of Bristol, officially opened in September by the minister for skills and former home secretary, Jacqui Smith.
The micro-campus on Hareclive Road hopes to challenge the longstanding perception of the university as an out-of-touch institution and strengthen its connection with local communities.
Both City of Bristol College and HWV have emphasised that they part on “excellent terms and with mutual respect,” and that while they are moving in different directions, their “goals and values remain closely aligned”.
