City of Bristol College ranks among top further education institutions
City of Bristol College has secured its place among the top-performing further education (FE) colleges in the UK, following a strong performance in the government’s 2023–24 Further Education Performance Tables.
The college reported a 3.3 percentage point increase in overall achievement rates, positioning it 2.3 points above the national average and placing it within the top quartile of FE colleges nationwide.
Notable gains were recorded among 16–18-year-old students, whose achievement rates rose by 6.4 percentage points, a surge that helped make the college the highest-performing FE institution in the region.
Adult education provision also performed strongly, with the college ranking in the top 20 per cent nationally.

Students with declared learning difficulties and those from Global Majority backgrounds also exceeded national benchmarks, suggesting progress in supporting underrepresented groups.
GCSE English and maths outcomes stood out, with achievement rates across all age groups above the national average. Adult learners in particular recorded higher-grade results, contributing to the college’s overall success.
Retention figures further underscored the quality of provision, with 91.8 per cent of students remaining on their courses, rising to 94.6 per cent among adult learners.
