Ellis Genge launches new charity foundation the Genge Fund

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Nov 6, 2024

Ellis Genge says that Bristol “is a city of incredible potential but too many young people are missing out”.

It is because of this that the Bristol Bears and England rugby player, who grew up in Knowle West, is launching the Genge Fund.

The foundation will be dedicated to providing equal opportunities to children in sport and education, focussing on mentorship, education and community engagement.

“The Genge Fund is committed to levelling the playing field and creating opportunities for every child to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances,” said Genge.

“I want to show these kids that it doesn’t have to be about running around and getting themselves in trouble.”

The charity will also have support from Roc Nation Sports, the global agency that represents Genge.

It primarily aims to address the challenges faced by young people including limited opportunities, the lure of crime and social inequality, with 29-year-old Genge working with existing charities and organisations across Bristol.

Genge added: “We believe that sport and education can transform lives.

“Through the Genge Fund, we aim to empower young people to reach their full potential.”
