Ellis Genge becomes Bristol Bears Community Foundation’s first official ambassador
Fresh from signing a contract extension with his hometown club, Ellis Genge has been named as Bristol Bears Community Foundation’s first official ambassador.
The Community Foundation is the club’s charity, with Genge hoping to be able to push its work to more people across Bristol and beyond.
The charity supports the club’s vision to inspire the community through rugby success by delivering programmes that support youth development, mental health awareness and social inclusion.
Genge said that he is “incredibly proud” to be named as ambassador.
He said: “Growing up in Bristol, rugby was more than just a game for me. It was an escape, a place to grow, to learn discipline and to be part of something bigger.
“Now, I get to help make that same impact on the next generation.
“I know what it’s like to come from a place where opportunities feel out of reach.
“But I also know that rugby can change lives. It gave me confidence, a sense of belonging, and a pathway to achieve things I never thought possible. That’s what I want to give back.”
Bristol Bears Community Foundation CEO, Jamie Skinner, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have Ellis on board as our official ambassador.
“Ellis embodies everything that our Foundation stands for – community, resilience and the power of sport to change lives.
“He’s not only an incredible rugby player but also a true role model for the young people of Bristol.
“His passion for giving back to the city and inspiring the next generation aligns perfectly with our mission. We couldn’t ask for a better advocate for our work.”
