My Bristol Favourites: Sir Hiss
Bristol born and bred producer Sir Hiss‘ debut album Time Dilation was released in October via Pineapple Records.
Sir Hiss works at the intersection of grime, electro and UK club music, and he has played at festivals including Glastonbury, Boomtown and Love Saves the Day.
Alongside his solo work, he runs No More Mailouts, a label focused on stripped-back and functional club music.
These are Sir Hiss’ top-five Bristol favourites:
Strange Brew

“Strange Brew is my favourite club space in Bristol by far. Both rooms are incredible, sound- and vibe-wise, plus all the staff are lovely. I’ve seen some of the best nights ever in Bristol here, especially DJ Ramon Sucesso and A Long Strange Dream with Batu to name a few.”
Rice & Things

“Rice & Things on Cheltenham Road is just one of many incredible Jamaican spots in Bristol but it’s always my go-to. Everything slaps, you can’t go wrong. Unless you go there late and everything is sold out.”
Gigi’s

“Following the incredible launch party we did at Gigi’s for my album, this has to be in my top-five Bristol favourites. We created a limited edition pizza for that party which I am begging to be added to the menu. But regardless, I’ll defo be back for a slice soon.”

Taka Taka

“Taka Taka is the best late night spot or hangover cure. Countless amounts of chicken gyros have been purchased and devoured.”
My studio

“I’m quite a hermit, so coming up with this list was a bit of a challenge to be honest. I’d say 99 per cent of my time is spent sitting in my studio, either grinding away on music or more likely procrastinating and playing games or watching YouTube.”
