Farro

“I have luckily always lived within a ten-minute radius of Farro. It’s the spot I go to after school drop-off and the place I want to head to on my day off. If I’m really lucky, I even get it brought to bed. It helps that everyone who works there is an absolute delight! My go-to favourites are kouign-amanns, madeleines, Breton biscuits and pastels de nata.”

Eastville Park

“Eastville Park reminds me a lot of Roundhay Park back ‘home’ in Leeds. It’s a city centre park that makes you feel like you’re further afield. The main attraction for me is the lake with an excellent selection of birds to feed. It’s an absolute must to go with pockets full of porridge and seeds!”

Soft Buoys

“It’s always nice to walk down Welsh Back way when it’s lovely and sunny. Even when it’s rainy and grey, the Soft Buoys hut brightens up my day! My favourite so far has been the French onion soup toastie; and the soft serve with pistachio, olive oil and fennel pollen.”

Bristol Cathedral

“I’m not a religious person myself but I love looking at religious icons, gothic lettering and stained glass windows. There are so many nooks and crannies in Bristol Cathedral that I see something new with each visit and it also happens to be the place where I graduated from university. My children and I really enjoyed Luke Jerram’s moon model there in 2021 his Earth installation in 2024.”

Old Market Street

Gigi’s Pizza is a hugely popular addition to Old Market – photo: Martin Booth

“Old Market is now where we call home. There has been such a great selection of spots past and present. 25A from Chris Willams’ days: I went there for my first ever outing with a newborn baby, not feeling very brave but welcomed with loving arms, good coffee and great chats. Tomo No Ramen: big flavourful delicious veggie ramen, along with their mushroom karaage. Good Store Studio: this was a great place for independent shopping, and amazing cards and wrap. Chido Wey: delicious tacos and cocktails. And most recently, Gigis’s Pizza: the vodka and margarita is a house staple for us. There’s so much more in and around Old Market; we really are spoilt.”
