My Bristol Favourites: Greg Moody
Greg Moody opened Orchard Sauna – an outdoor barrel sauna and cold plunge pool – in early 2024 at Windmill Hill City Farm.
He has been a Bristol resident for six years and works in data alongside sauna life.
These are Greg’s top-five Bristol favourites:
is needed now More than ever
The Plough

“What a place! When I do go out, the Plough in Easton has a special place in my heart. Everyone is so friendly, the music is great and the fun is off the charts! They also doing a cracking roast to ease a sore Sunday head.”
Victoria Park workout area

“Simple, free, and great! In the summertime, this is the perfect place for a workout. You’re in the sunshine, there is enough equipment and there is entertainment from the basketball court next door. Add in a lap or two of the park and there’s literally no need for a gym, all while being out in the sunshine (hopefully)!”
Royate Hill Allotments
“An east Bristol institution. Royate Hill Allotments head honcho Mike Feingold is an absolute character. Last year, he taught me how to pasteurise apple juice on an open fire during their annual apple pressing. It’s such a wonderful, ramshackle, interesting and community-focused place! Everyone is welcome, and will be put to work!”
3ft6

“It’s a bit like a tree that has somehow started to grow on the roof of a building somewhere – it’s found a place and decided to go for it! 3ft 6 coffee shop is squeezed into a garage in Redfield, and it’s great. I never fail to have lovely chats with people getting a coffee or who are working there, it’s so friendly and welcoming.”
Windmill Hill City Farm

“A bit of a cheat I know, given Orchard Sauna is on the farm – but there’s a reason it’s there! Windmill Hill City Farm is amazing! When I was looking for a home for the sauna, I would walk around the community gardens for inspiration, and say hello to animals (the pigs are my favourite). The cafe is a proper community hub and the whole farm ethos is just brilliant. The fact it’s been at it for nearly 50 years just shows what an institution it is!”
