My Bristol Favourites: Cameron Iona
Cameron Iona is the artist whose work appears on the latest Bristol24/7 magazine cover.
Cameron says her studies in philosophy shape her way of seeing “particularly the area of phenomenology, which considers how we encounter the world through lived and embodied experience”.
On November 15 and 16, Cameron will be exhibiting some of her paintings at the Star & Dove as part of Totterdown Arts Trail.

Cameron Iona’s art appears on the front cover of Bristol24/7’s November/December 2025 magazine
These are Cameron’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Hidden Gallery

Since 2015, Hidden has sold original artworks by world-renowned artists – photo: Martin Booth
“It still absolutely blows my mind that this tiny humble gallery has works from Picasso, Hockney, Salvador Dali, Matisse and Louise Bourgeois to name a few. At Hidden Gallery, nestled in Clifton Arcade, I love to see their rotation of artwork and chat to the super lovely team.”
The Milk Thistle

The Milk Thistle is a secret cocktail bar spread across four floors – photo: The Milk Thistle
“These guys know how to make a proper cocktail. This hidden speakeasy-style cocktail bar is so cool and cosy; it’s the perfect place if you’re craving something a bit more fancy. You could recommend going to the Milk Thistle on Colston Avenue anytime and I will always say yes. I especially love their mezcal-based drinks.”
The Local Thai

The Local Thai in Hotwells promises to “elevate your palate with Thai delights” – photo: The Local Thai
“Hands down, the Local Thai on Hotwell Road is the best Thai in Bristol. Affordable, absolutely delicious and such a cute family-run business. My order: chicken panang, tofu pad Thai, sticky rice and chicken satay. Plenty for lunch the next day.”

The Banana Bridge

The walls of the New Cut next to the Banana Bridge are currently being repaired – photo: Martin Booth
“So bold and cheery, the bright yellow Banana Bridge makes a grey walk to Temple Meads into a ray of sunshine. Countless times I’ve stopped to admire the New Cut from it too. I’m so glad it reopened!”
The Grain Barge

The Grain Barge offers panoramic harbour views – photo: Martin Booth
“A pub, on a boat, on the water, looking over at the SS Great Britain. What is not to love? The Grain Barge has great vibes, great loaded chips, they do a quiz, music downstairs and in the summer sitting on the top deck is a must. I sometimes like to sit with a pint and my sketchbook, and people watch from here.”
