My Bristol Favourites: Arthur Cauty
Arthur Cauty is an award-winning filmmaker and photographer.
His latest film, The Pig Picture, uncovers the untold story of the IMAX on Anchor Road which had been abandoned for over a decade and now serves as the epicentre of a thriving community cinema movement.
The Big Picture is receiving its premiere at the Bristol Megascreen on Wednesday as part of the Forbidden Worlds film festival.

These are Arthur’s top-five Bristol favourites:
Bristol Megascreen
“Bristol Megascreen is a former IMAX theatre in the heart of the city revived as a community-focused cinema in an aquarium. A great place to catch a cult classic, VHS obscurity or take in an entire film festival, all on a massive IMAX screen. Coincidentally, also the subject of my new film The Big Picture.”
Blaise Castle Estate

“Blaise Castle Estate is one of my favourite green spaces. I spent many hours wandering through the woods here back in the weird lockdown days where we weren’t allowed to do anything and you couldn’t buy toilet paper or pasta. It helped keep my sanity levels up.”
Bravas

“Bravas is an amazing little Spanish restaurant in Cotham serving the best tapas I’ve had in the UK. Plenty of veggie dishes and specials. Don’t miss the tortilla or the fried aubergine.”
Bertha’s Pizza

“Yeah, I like eating. Bertha’s Pizza in Wapping Wharf do some amazing sourdough pizzas. I’m quite partial to the umami bomb (mozzarella, smoked potato, black garlic vinaigrette, miso mayo and chives). Bertha’s is a great place to grab a takeaway and watch the sunset over the harbour.”
20th Century Flicks

“20th Century Flicks on Christmas Steps is a longstanding bastion of the Bristol film scene, which also happens to be (probably) the oldest video shop in the world. It’s also home to two tiny cinemas which you can hire to watch any of their 20,000+ films with your mates!”
