Thieves blow up cash machine with bang heard across north Bristol

By Martin Booth  Saturday Mar 19, 2022

A bang could be heard as far away as Bishopston in the early hours of Sunday morning when an ATM in Lockleaze was blown up and a “quantity of cash” stolen.

The attack happened at about 12.55am at a shop on Morris Road off Shaldon Road.

Police believe that two people attacked the ATM at Costcutter on the ground floor of Danby House.

A cordon remained in place for much of Saturday around the shop, which had debris strewn around it following the attack.

Soon before 1pm, a motorbike was removed from the scene by Yate-based Victoria Recovery. It is thought by police that a motorbike was used in the attack.

Police said: “An investigation is underway after a cash machine was attacked in Lockleaze in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

“The incident happened at about 12.55am at a convenience store on Morris Road.

“Two people are believed to have attacked the ATM and a quantity of cash was stolen.

“It’s believed a motorcycle was used and those involved may have left in the direction of Muller Road towards Filton and Horfield.”
