The Bristol kids running a mile a day

It takes just 15 minutes a day but the Daily Mile is transforming children’s lives and now it’s come to Bristol.

Children from Bannerman Road Primary School in Easton have been taking part in a trial of the project and are running a mile a day in a bid to improve concentration levels and fitness.

Head teacher Lynsey Prewett said the project has been a “great success”.

“The children have really enjoyed getting involved and being out in the fresh air. The older children have challenged themselves to improve the distance they have run each day. We took part to improve the walking abilities of the children.”

Although the Daily Mile has been running as a pilot during Healthy City Week, Ms Prewett said she hopes to continue the daily exercise “as we have seen that the children are much better at concentrating after a short burst of exercise”.
