Struggling dog-owners get a helping paw
New Bristol business The Hound Haus aims to give homeless and struggling dog owners a helping hand in caring for their pets.
The company will provide monthly subscription boxes containing treats and toys for your dog. The profits made from these subscription boxes will then be used to produce and deliver free boxes to dog-owners who are homeless or struggling to put a roof over their heads.
The free boxes contains items such as dog food, blankets, and flea and worming products, as well as treats and toys.
The scheme is also working in conjunction with the charities Caring in Bristol and St Mungo’s to offer vulnerable owners advice on finding work and available housing options for them and their dog.
Hound Haus founder Verity Jones said: “I have always loved dogs and have been working with homeless people for a while when I decided there needed to be a service that helped struggling owners out.
“As well as being very important, dogs can become a barrier to homeless people in accessing the services that are important to helping them. With very few shelters and soup kitchens allowing dogs in around the city these people are simply not getting the help they need.”
The scheme also seeks to improve the lives of dogs, keeping them out of kennels and away from the stress that separation can cause them and their owners.
