New diagnostic testing for memory loss arrives in Bristol
Bristol is now the only city in the UK, apart from London, to have access to a new high-accuracy diagnostic test for memory loss patients.
LucentAD Complete will assist clinicians in the early diagnosis of memory loss or Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) by analysing five key biomarkers in the patients’ blood.
This screening tool, developed by biotech company Advance Tests, which was first introduced in London in November 2024, is now available to patients in the UK outside the capital for the first time in Bristol.

This diagnostic testing is currently available at the Independent Nurse, a private clinic in Southmead
The test offers 90 per cent accuracy, is non-invasive, and costs £695, which the biotech company say is more cost-effective than the available alternatives.
Patients can currently access this test at The Independent Nurse, a private clinic located at the Greenway Business Centre in Southmead, which specialises in community care and provides access to modern treatments.
Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) recently approved two pharmaceutical drugs that could aid in slowing down Alzheimer’s, conditional on the stage at which it is diagnosed. With LucentAD Complete in the picture, the disease can be diagnosed early and accurately, which then combined with other treatments like medication could hopefully slow the progression of symptoms in patients.
The results from the tests are generally ready in 15 working days, with no delays or waiting lists at the moment.
Founder and clinical director of The Independent Nurse, Lisa M. Gibbons said: “We’re proud to expand our services here in Bristol and launch this groundbreaking test in partnership with Advance Tests.
“Our aim has always been to ensure that the very best of modern care reaches people beyond the limitations of standard NHS provision. This test aligns perfectly with that ambition.”
