New state-of-the-art fertility and IVF clinic to open in Bristol
The go-ahead has been given by the fertility regulator, the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA), for a new state-of-the-art fertility and IVF clinic to open in Bristol.
The clinic’s operator, Bristol Centre for Reproductive Medicine (BCRM), is completing final testing and has the green light to begin treating patients at its new ssite in Aztec West from the beginning of 2022.
Consultations with new and existing patients will resume immediately after the New Year bank holiday, and the first embryo transfer procedure is scheduled for January 10.
BCRM medical director, Amanda Jefferys, said: “This move is incredibly exciting for all the staff at BCRM and the new larger premises will enable us to meet the growing demand for our fertility services.
“It’s taken months of careful planning and a huge investment of time and money, so we’re delighted to receive the HFEA’s authorisation to open in January.”
The two-storey building is twice the size of the current premises on the Southmead Hospital site and the increased capacity will enable more patients with fertility issues – both male and female – to be treated.
The new clinic will feature ultra-modern theatres and high-tech embryology labs with the latest equipment, and there will also be space to allow more teaching, training and research to take place.
