MegaMorph arrives in Bristol

By Bristol24/7  Wednesday Jun 14, 2017

A three-metre high Morph has appeared outside the Children’s Hospital on the first stop of a tour around Bristol.

Passers-by are encouraged to get a selfie with MegaMorph, made by Amalgam in Cotham, whose appearance marks the character’s 40th birthday and a new charity exhibition in The Mall at Cribbs Causeway.

The model will move to the RWA from June 15, then Museum Square next to the M Shed from June 20, the Clifton Suspension Bridge from June 24, outside Aardman HQ in Spike Island from June 29 and Cribbs Causeway from July 10.

A young Morph fan says hello to MegaMorph outside the Children’s Hospital

The exhibition at The Mall will run from July 14 until September 5, raising money for The Grand Appeal and celebrating all things Morph with a number of hands-on activities and 20 new sculptures designed by Morph co-creator Peter Lord.

Co-creators of Morph and co-founders of Aardman, David Sproxton and Peter Lord said: “We never would have imagined 40 years ago that we’d have a big exhibition celebrating the world of Morph in his magnificent home city of Bristol.

“For a lot of people, Morph inspires real childhood nostalgia and yet he’s also moved with the times; Morph is a 21st century chap with his own emoji set, and has an emerging young fan base generated from his very own online series, so the exhibition really is for everyone.

“MegaMorph is really something else too, and seeing him tower over bystanders is something we’re really looking forward to while he makes his way around Bristol!”
