Jack’s mother describes ‘two years of the most unimaginable pain’
The mother of a missing student has described the past two years as “the most unimaginable pain” on the second anniversary of his disappearance.
Jack O’Sullivan went missing after going to a party in Hotwells on March 2 2024.
In a message posted on social media, Catherine O’Sullivan spoke about the family’s determination to keep searching despite the heartbreak of not knowing what happened to him.
“Today, like every other day that has gone so far, we will do what we always do: get up, get dressed, get out, and get on with the job in hand – to find Jack,” she said.

Despite extensive efforts, including police searches and repeated public appeals, no trace of Jack has been found.
Jack was last seen walking along Bennett Way slip road towards the city centre, wearing a quilted green/brown Barbour jacket over a beige woollen jumper, navy chinos and brown leather trainers with white soles.
It is thought he was trying to get home to Flax Bourton, a village six miles away from Bristol.
The River Avon and its surrounds have since been scoured by police, specialist search teams and volunteers – but to no avail.
Jack’s mum thanked the public for their support, describing it as overwhelming and vital, and urged people to continue sharing his story.
The family will gather with their church community to say prayers and light a candle in the hope that it may guide Jack home. They are encouraging others across Bristol and beyond to do the same.
“We will never give up looking for Jack,” Catherine said. “And all we ask is that you do the same. Together, we can bring Jack home.”
