By Ellie Pipe  Wednesday Mar 20, 2024

A Green councillor hopeful who was due to stand in Eastville in the upcoming local elections has had his candidacy suspended.

Shaban Ali is a member of housing campaign group Acorn Bristol and resident of Barton House, who has been a vocal campaigner in the city over the past few months.

The Green Party has said it can’t give any details or comment on what is a police matter but has confirmed Ali has had his candidacy suspended, pending investigation.

It was only earlier this month that the party only announced all of the 70 candidates it will be fielding in May’s local elections.
