Donations needed to pay for media bursary

Bristol Media is fundraising for a full bursary to send a young media apprentice to multimedia conference South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

Working with youth empowerment project Babbasa, Bristol Media hopes to send a talented youngster to the event to shadow coach and mentor Chris Thurling.

Bristol Media, an organisation supporting and promoting Bristol’s media industries, is asking for donations to help pay for the bursary through its Fundsurfer page.

Bristol Media director Chris Thurling said: “Bristol and Bath, and the UK at large, has a skills shortage in the creative sector.

“If we want to stay competitive we have to commit to identifying talent and growing it. This is a hugely exciting sector to work in and so it makes sense for us to launch this commitment with a mind-blowing apprenticeship to show we mean business.”
