Delivery robots take to the streets of Bristol
Bristol is one of only two places in the UK chosen for a trial of new delivery robots.
The small robots on four wheels have been operating around north Bristol as part of the test by Just Eat, which also see robot dogs on the loose in Milton Keynes.
The robots in Bristol have been particularly active around Filton, taking orders from businesses including Caspian Fish Bar on Gloucester Road North and Chicken Mews on Filton Avenue.
“We’re always innovating to improve the delivery experience for our customers, said Just Eat chief technology officer, Mert Öztekin.
“To trial ground robotics we’ve teamed up with two expert organisations to ensure that we’re learning and working with the very best.”
In Bristol, Just Eat are working with last-mile delivery specialists Delivers.AI, who say they are “proud to lead the way with cutting-edge autonomous robotic solutions”.
Delivers.AI founder and CTO, Oral Yigitkus, said: “We’re excited to be partnering with Just Eat Takeaway in Bristol and to support local independent restaurants with our technology.
“This partnership is an important step in demonstrating how Delivers.AI’s ground robotics technology can complement existing delivery networks, helping to improve reliability, urban logistics and the overall customer experience while supporting local high streets.”
