Delivery lorry gets stuck on Bristol’s steepest street
A delivery lorry had to be rescued after becoming wedged at the bottom of Bristol’s steepest street.
Vale Street in Totterdown – which also has the distinction of being the steepest residential road in England – was the scene of the drama.
It started on Tuesday morning after a driver turned off Wells Road too early, followed his satnav and ended up getting stuck.
Bristol24/7 understands that the Evri driver was at the end of his shift with all of his deliveries completed, and was on his way back to the depot before his travails in Totterdown.
A rescue truck arrived at 4.30pm with the lorry finally extricated from its misery when it was pulled up Park Street soon after sunset.
The lorry had Hermes branding but was being operated by Evri.
An Evri spokesperson said: “The safety of our people and communities around us is a top priority. The driver has been suspended while we investigate what has happened.”
